The GrassRoots Investigation Project has released The Capital Defense Handbook for Defendants and Their Families. The goal of this book is to give people information they need about the justice system, when they need it, through the process from arrest to appeal.
G.R.I.P. kicked off in 2000 with it's groundbreaking report, Reasonable Doubts: Is the U.S. Executing Innocent People?. The report profiled 15 people who were executed despite compelling questions of innocence, and drew national attention. The project is currently in the initial stages of putting together initial test teams for further research projects.
The GrassRoots Investigation Project brings together community activists, lawyers, academics, and journalists to research cases of incarcerated and executed prisoners who have been wrongfully or unjustly convicted. By involving and training community activists, the project offers a fresh approach to this work.|
