Forty years ago, the Second Vatican Council called the Church community to eliminate discrimination against the “other” as contrary to God’s intent.

Our bishops declared “every type of discrimination, whether social or cultural, whether based on sex, race, color, social condition, language or religion, is to be overcome and eradicated as contrary to God’s intent.

We have made some progress, but we still have a long way to go. The time has come for us to galvanize millions of Catholics to overcome 40 years of resistance. We know that will not happen unless we continue the struggle. The time has come for us to renew our call to act on this unfulfilled promise.

A Signature Ad

Thanks to the support of more than 2,000 individuals and organizations, in October we'll publish a full-page ad in the National Catholic Reporter — a powerful public megaphone to proclaim our united determination.

Although the deadline to have your signature included in the print ad is past, you can still sign at no charge – your signature will be included in the online version of the ad, and will help us build the Women's Equality in the Church coalition.

You can sign on as an individual or an organization. If you fear retribution, you may sign with a pseudonym such as “SF Pastor,” “Midwest DRE,” or "Anonymous."
