Your Privacy

When you join the Quixote Center online community, you provide us with information about you, such as your name, email address, postal address, and information about which Quixote Center programs and issues interest you the most.  Our goal is to use this information to include YOU in the work of the Quixote Center as we advocate for a more just and loving world, and walk in solidarity with those struggling to better their lives around the world.  We are committed to your privacy and respect the information you have entrusted to us.  Please read the following policy to understand how your personal information will be treated.  This policy may be updated or refined from time to time, so please check back for the latest information.

How We Will Use Your Information

There are three things that we will do with your information:

1. We will send you periodic updates about the programs you select.  Currently, each Quixote Center program, and the Center itself have email lists.  Some programs have multiple lists, each dealing with a part of their mission.  You may get on or off these lists easily, and control the email address we use to communicate with you.  
2. We will periodically ask you to take specific actions that can substantially help achieve the goals of one of the programs and make a real impact on the media, sway a political vote, or serve as a hopeful symbol in our struggle.  We distribute these action alerts via the individual program lists above, and occasionally, to everyone on our email list.  You may opt out of such action-alerts.
3. We may use the lists to solicit your financial help for the work of the Center, or to support a specific initiative.  We use the resources of our supporters to strike when the iron is hot in targeted campaigns as well as doing ongoing organizing and capacity development for the individual programs and the Center as a whole.  You may call us, or email us to let us know whether and how often to contact you to ask for your help.   

Information Security

When you give the Quixote Center personal information, it is located in a computer system accessible only through a secure website limited to high level program staff. Another copy of your data may be located in a secure database on the Quixote Center premises.  

To spare you the inconvienience of reloading the web page, we do not initiate a secure session when you are simply subscribing to one of our email lists.  These are the "Quick Signup" email forms you will find on our websites.  When you give us more sensitive information - especially financial information - we use industry-standard SSL 128 or 256 bit security certificates to fully encrypt the transactions.  To guarantee that your data transmission over the Internet is secure, please look for the lock icon in the status bar of your web browser. 

Once we receive your transmission, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our system including physical and electronic access control and the secure destruction of backups.  We are committed to taking reasonable steps to protect the individual identifying information that you provide to us.

Sharing Information

The Quixote Center and its programs do not rent or sell your email address under any circumstances.  From time to time, we will forward information from other likeminded organizations, but the email will always originate from the Center or one of its programs.

Please contact us by phone, postal mail, or email using the contact details provided at the top of this page.  We will be happy to disclose or modify any information we have collected at your request.  We are eager to adjust your communications preferences as well so that we can keep you informed in the most comfortable manner about the work that is of most interest to you.
